As all of you are already aware, this year’s West Virginia Youth Government has unfortunately been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and resulting social distancing policies. Hundreds of students have already put in many hours of work drafting bills, briefs, and preparing for what was promised to be an exhilarating and educational event.
Because of the efforts of our students, and YLA’s continued commitment to provide programs even during these unprecedented times, we are proud to announce this year’s West Virginia Youth in Government will be restructured into a two day “virtual” event.
The logistics for our event are still being finalized, but here are the key details you need to know:
- YG Virtual will be held Friday, May 15th starting at 4pm, and Saturday, May 16th starting at 10am.
- Virtual YG will be open to any previously registered participants. We need everyone interested in participating to complete a simple re-registration process, which can be found here.
- The deadline to complete the re-registration process is Tuesday, May 12th at 5pm. If participants do not complete the process in time they will be unable to attend YG Virtual.
- YG Virtual will be conducted via the Zoom remote conferencing service.
- More information will be released in the coming days via Facebook, Instagram, and our website, https://yla-youthleadership.org/.
